Ground Zero Website Design Tips
The
first thing is organization. If you're not organizationally orientated,
there's no hope for you in this racket. You're better off hiring a web
design consulting firm to get the job done fast.
As with most effective professionals, the key
element to success is organizing your thoughts and ideas into a projected plan
of action. Assembling first on paper all your web site's elements, a plan is
then adopted.
Using the design tips below, you can adopt some
of the most important concepts for executing your website design project
strategy.
1. A site's theme and purpose should be evident
from the beginning.
2. Elements of the site should be cohesive and not fight other elements
for attention.
3. Navigation should be fluid and obvious, not scattered and hectic.
4. Color palettes should be complimentary and cohesive. Many web
authors try and fill a page with as many colors as they can to dazzle
the viewer, but usually leaves them with a headache.
5. Bandwidth is still limited on the Internet, therefore, your site
should be streamlined and elegant in it's transfer from server to user.
Are all elements of the site truly necessary?
6. Site components should fit together and make a whole, not just take
up space.
7. A web site should look and feel like a complete unit, not bits and
pieces here and there.
8. Your site should be interactive and engaging, not static and dull.
People need a reason to visit your site and they need a reason to
return.
9. Informative, current, dynamic, thoughtful, clear, useful, and so
on- these are words that should describe your site. Do they?
10. Be cautious using clip art! Many web designers take ready made clip art
from existing sites that distribute these images freely. Not only do these
images not look professional, they do not stand out as many other sites have the
same images.
